<h3 id="1">Hang Drying Cannabis</h3>

However, you'll need to consider your local climate; for example, in the Arizona desert, plants dry very quickly and completely. But, in a cool, humid place like Oregon, that process will be much slower. And, in a warm, humid place like Florida, mold growth could become an issue. The key is, to hang dry your cannabis plants in a warm, dry place. If your location is humid, you may need to add a dehumidifier to the drying room. Likewise, if it's cold, you may need to add a heater. Also, in a dry region, it's OK to hang dry the plants whole, but if it's humid, break the branches apart to dry individually. Once you have your drying space set up, string up the clothesline. Next, clip the plants upside down by the stems to the line. Also, running a fan will keep the air circulating and aid the drying process. The ideal drying temperature is between 60 and 70-degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is too high and the weed dries too quickly, that can destroy some of the terpenes and cannabinoids. It's also best to keep the room dark. Drying in complete darkness improves the taste. Bend the branches to check the buds after two days; if the branch snaps, the bud should be dry. If it doesn&rsquo;t snap, leave it drying, and keep checking every day or two. Properly dried buds should feel slightly squishy, not brittle. It can take up to a month for the plants to completely dry.

<h3 id="2">Curing Cannabis Buds</h3>

To cure the buds, store them in airtight glass jars. This will maintain a bit of moisture, which preserves the flavor, aroma, and potency. Also, don't pack the jars. Only fill them around 75% to avoid crushing the buds, and to give them room to breathe. Shake the jars occasionally; if the buds stick together, they are not dry enough. Humidity inside the jars should be between 55-65%. Keep the jars in a cool, dark place, and open the jars a few times every day to release excess moisture. If you open the jars and you smell ammonia, that means you could have anaerobic bacteria growth. This can happen if try to cure buds that are not dry enough. Curing can take between two to four weeks. However, some strains can take longer. Glass jars are great for long-term storage, too. However, if you want to vacuum seal your cannabis or pack it tightly in your glass jars, cure the buds for at least three months. This will prevent mold growth.
